Dominic Villecco recalls his time providing expert witness testimony, explaining, “We were commissioned by wireless carriers to investigate whether cell phone usage during flights posed significant concerns regarding avionics and electronics. What many people do not realize is the impact of signals transmitted from planes to the ground. We conducted tests aboard multiple aircraft, with pilots flying our engineers to prescribed locations. By measuring actual signal levels from airborne positions, we determined the potential effects of cell phone signals across wide frequency ranges. This research provided critical insights, influencing FCC regulations in this area.”
Their collaboration with the FAA and FCC to solve interference issues at a North Jersey bakery caused by commercial ovens is another testament to their problem-solving prowess. They tested different frequencies and helped the oven manufacturer redesign the ovens to ensure they would not interfere with the nearby major airports. This initiative boosted aviation safety standards for nearby Newark and Teterboro Airports, demonstrating the impact of their work.
Recent projects, such as deploying a state-of-the-art Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, NJ, highlight V-COMM’s technical abilities. In partnership with Eastern Wireless, V-COMM transformed wireless communication at this vital healthcare institution. The mission was to implement an innovative DAS that ensures seamless cellular coverage throughout the medical center’s extensive facilities, despite its century-old architecture, and allows all major wireless carriers to co-locate through the system.
