Meet Your Board – Christopher Darr

Christopher Darr has over 10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, most currently serving as the Operations Manager at Zenfi Networks, LLC.

Christopher has been a member of NYSWA for seven years and has served on the board of directors for one year. He’s also an active volunteer of not just one, but two NYSWA Committees, sharing his expertise with the Workforce Development Committee and the Membership and Revenue Committee.

When it comes to career advice, Christopher says that “mission and purpose” need to be the cornerstones of your work. Keep reading to learn why he believes the wireless industry delivers just that.

What is it about the wireless industry that attracted you as a career choice?

The wireless industry captivated my interest as a career choice due to its constant evolution and rapid advancements, providing an exciting environment for innovation and the development of groundbreaking wireless solutions. By pursuing a career in this field, I saw the opportunity to actively contribute to the ongoing transformation of how we connect and communicate. The industry’s dynamic nature fosters a continuous learning environment, where professionals are challenged to adapt to the latest trends, standards, and technologies. This aspect excited me as it meant I would constantly be exposed to new ideas and concepts, fostering both personal and professional growth.

What do you see as the greatest opportunity for our industry over the next few years?

Our greatest opportunity is with the development of 5G technology, which promises to deliver faster download and upload speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections. 5G technology will enable a wide range of new applications, including virtual and augmented reality, autonomous vehicles, and smart cities.

What are you most looking forward to contributing to your role as a NYSWA board member this year?

I’m excited to assist the Workforce Development Committee and to contribute to building the wireless workforce of tomorrow.

What would you share with others on how getting involved with NYSWA can affect their success?

Getting involved with an industry association like NYSWA is a valuable way to grow your career, build your professional network, and develop your skills and expertise. It is also a rewarding way to give back to your industry and help promote its growth and success.

As our industry looks to the next generation of leaders, what would you share with someone just starting their career in wireless?

It’s important to have a sense of purpose and mission in your work. The wireless industry has the potential to make a significant and positive impact on people’s lives, from enabling remote work and telemedicine to advancing the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities. Focusing on the potential impact of your work can help you stay motivated and engaged in your career.

What is something about you that most people are surprised to learn?

I initially started my career in banking. After the housing crisis, I had to explore other options, which led me to pursue a career in the wireless industry.

What is the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?

Never stop learning. This advice highlights the importance of learning and development throughout one’s career. In today’s rapidly changing professional landscape, staying up to date with new trends and developments can help you stay competitive and adaptable.
